What we do
Mass tort litigation is a narrow discipline. The defendants are pharmaceutical and device companies with effectively unlimited resources; the evidence is scientific; the proceedings are coordinated across thousands of claims in federal and state courts. We concentrate on this work so that when your case meets a well-funded corporate defense, it is prepared to the same standard.
The firm is based in Washington, DC and represents clients nationwide, associating with local counsel where individual matters require it. Every case is handled on a contingency fee: the consultation is free, and you pay attorney's fees only if we recover for you.
How we work
We take fewer cases and work them properly. That means gathering the medical records early, consulting the right experts, filing in the right forum, and telling you the truth at every stage, including when the honest answer is that you do not have a claim worth pursuing. Clients hear from us as their case moves; they do not have to chase us for updates.

Chris Schroeder founded The Schroeder Firm to do one thing exceptionally well: stand up for people injured by dangerous drugs, defective devices, and unsafe products. He built the practice around the belief that every client deserves a lawyer who treats their case, and their story, with the seriousness it demands.
His work focuses on the complex pharmaceutical and medical-device litigation that large firms and corporate defendants take seriously, combining rigorous case preparation with a genuine commitment to the families behind each claim.
Ryan Mayer, Chief Operating Officer
Ryan Mayer is Chief Operating Officer of The Schroeder Firm, responsible for case operations, technology, and client acquisition. He designs and manages the systems the firm runs on: intake, case management, records retrieval, deadline tracking, and client communication, from the first call through resolution.
When the firm opens a new litigation, Ryan sets the intake criteria, the tracking structure, and the reporting used to manage the docket at volume before the first case is signed. He selects and implements the firm’s case management platform and its integrations, sets the standards for file organization and documentation, and reviews the operating metrics that show where a matter is slowing down. Cases move on a schedule, not on memory.
He directs the firm’s digital marketing as well: campaign strategy and spend, website and landing page performance, search visibility, and the attribution reporting that ties a signed case back to the source that produced it. Every technical function of the practice reports to him, including this website, the intake and lead-routing infrastructure behind it, analytics, and data security.
Ryan’s background is in design, user experience, and content systems. He also serves as Technical Director at the Cerebral Palsy Center, leading the design system, site performance, accessibility, and information architecture for a national patient resource. He applies the same standard to the firm’s client-facing work: an injured person should be able to reach a lawyer without friction, at any hour, on any device.
